Micki Maunsell — The Artist

Trained under noted British painter A.E. Marsh and at the Hornsey School of Art, London, Micki has been painting and exhibiting in Canada and the UK since the 1960s. Her first show was at the Red Lion, Rosebery Ave, London in 1961.

Before coming to Canada in 1967, she exhibited her works in various theatres and theatre clubs around London. The theatre connection is an obvious one, since her other life is that of an accomplished professional actor with numerous acting credits to her name here in Canada.

Micki has flourished as an artist since coming to Canada, with portraiture a specialty—often painted as commissioned pieces. Her acting career has made for a somewhat haphazard exhibition schedule, although she has exhibited in the Whip Gallery, Main Street, Vancouver, BC, at the Doughnut House Gallery, Granville Street, Vancouver, BC and is a regular exhibitor in the annual “Art in the Swamp” Festival, Maple Ridge, BC.

From 1996 to 1998 she owned and directed the Doughnut House Gallery on Granville Street’s gallery row, to provide a venue for emerging Vancouver artists.
